AISES is Accepting Nominations for the 2015 Ely S. Parker Award to be Given at the National Conference About the AISES Ely S. Parker Award The Ely S. Parker Award is the highest honor bestowed by AISES, given in honor of a man who was the first recognized American Indian scientist/engineer.  Parker made many civil engineering contributions and was a Chief of the Seneca and a Union Army General. Recap: Leadership Summit 2015

Hatito! It’s snowing here in Cleveland, but just last week I had the privilege of standing in the sun of Santa Ana Pueblo for the AISES Leadership Summit at Tamaya Resort.  This Summit is hosted annually by the Resort and the Pueblo and features presentations on – you guess it – leadership.  A large mix of both students and professionals attended this year, and from all seven of our Regions. Lawilowan American Indian Festival

Cleveland Spring Equinox Sunrise Prayer

Are you in the Cleveland area?  Come join the Lake Erie Professional Chapter of the American Indian Science & Engineering Society at the Spring Equinox Sunrise Prayer on the morning of Saturday, March 28, 2015!  This annual prayer will be at Edgewater Park (upper picnic area) at 7:17am, and breakfast afterwards at a local eatery will be at 8:30am.  Although the Equinox is technically Friday, March 20th, other obligations like work and the Leadership Summit are expected to cause too much conflict with our attendees.  Instead, we have chosen the next week over the weekend. 2015 Regional Conference Recap!

This weekend, AISES chapter students at Cornell University hosted the Region 6 Regional Conference, bringing in students from all over Northeast US and Eastern Canada despite the snowy weather.  The Conference theme was SUSTAINABILITY IN OUR SOCIETY.  Events were held in the Africana Center and the Akwe:kon Native American residential hall on campus. Akwe:kon, decorated with a style reflecting the Haudenosaunee flag. (Photo by Kayla DeVault.) AISES Offers Travel Scholarships for the 2015 Leadership to Students

AISES is pleased to announce that it will begin accepting applications for travel scholarships to this year’s Leadership Summit being held at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa –  in Santa Ana Pueblo, NM on March 19-21, 2015. National American Indian Virtual Science and Engineering Fair

National American Indian Virtual Science and Engineering Fair AISES is hosting its second virtual science and engineering fair this spring!  The National American Indian Virtual Science and Engineering Fair (NAIVSEF) is a Society for Science and the Public (SSP) affiliated science fair and as such is part of the larger SSP fair network. The NAIVSEF differs from other SSP-affiliated fairs in that it is a “Virtual Science Fair”.   Unlike live fairs, virtual fairs do not require travel as the fair and judging are conducted online and via teleconference calls.
